MPL is an abbreviation of McCartney Productions Limited. Paul had formed a company called Adagrove Limited on 12 February 1969.
That name changed to McCartney Productions. In 1976 the name was changed to MPL Communications Ltd.
It was established as a management company for both Paul and Linda's projects that included songwriting, recordings, books, films and videos.
The company owned several music catalogues and had by 1997 the copyright to over 25000 songs.
Their first office was located in 12-13 Greek Street, just above a restaurant. Later they moved to the present location at 1 Soho Square.
To begin with they occupied one single office but they graduately expanded and today they reside in the whole building.
The main part of the company's millions come from the huge royalties derived from the many thousand song to which they own the publishing rights.
MPL owns the right to musicals like: Guys and Dolls, Grease, Annie, Hello Dolly, La cage aux folles, A chorus line and The music man.
